Nazrin: Even though “Nightmare before Christmas” merch was kind of tainted by mallcore kids back in 2002-2004 or so constantly wearing it to look “cute” or something I still love it, one of my all time favorite movies. Luckily now that the mallcore kids have seemingly died off I think it’s safe to wear Nightmare before Christmas merch, need to get me a Jack Skellington tee or something ;p

Clearly you must have poor reading comprehension skills, because I’m pretty sure that I said more than once in my post that I don’t necessarily identify as “liberal” or “conservative.” I realize that some of my views, most younger liberal people would consider traditional/old fashioned. Some of my other views and especially how I am as a person however will generally alienate those that are more on the conservative side. At the same time, I believe strongly in thinking for yourself, individuality, and so on(and I mean REALLY thinking for yourself/being yourself, not worrying about fitting in with any particular social groups, not worrying about what’s “cool” or “uncool.” If people don’t like who I am because of my views or personality, I’ve just learned to never let it bother me. They’re of no importance, and it isn’t my duty to please them)
As for the types of people you mentioned, that’s why we have SSI/SSDI and other federal programs to help the disadvantaged. I’m not at all against people getting welfare benefits and government assistance if they really need them. In fact, I actually think these types of programs are underfunded by our government. Lots of people that truly are disabled can’t get the support they need, such as lots of homeless people for example. Many of them have very severe Psychiatric disorders that need to be treated, and I’ve even seen some homeless that were missing legs and so on. You see, it’s a catch-22, because in order to qualify for these programs, one needs medical proof. Yet many of these people, being both uninsured and unemployed are completely unable to get that that medical proof to begin with. I mean let’s face it: nobody wants to be homeless. Lots of these people are disabled and honestly need help, yet they can’t get that help. That’s a huge flaw in our system as far as I’m concerned. It’s completely lazy leeches and ghetto welfare mammies that piss me off. You know, I actually even applied for SSI long ago myself, as I’ve always had lots of trouble getting along with people and keeping jobs, eventually went homeless basically, and also have been formally diagnosed with ADD, Aspergers, and so on. Of course, I wasn’t planning on staying on SSI forever anyways(you really think I want to rot away on $600 per month well into middle age and do absolutely nothing with my life? Hell no.) but I was in a very rough patch at the time and I figured “since I can qualify, why not do it temporarily to help me out for a while?” so, I applied. Why did I give it up? Because A.) It was way too much bull, “see this doctor, see that lawyer, appear in court here, appear in court there” and B.) I have too much pride and self respect for that. In fact I can work just fine when not surrounded by morons. It’s mainly only in shittier low paying jobs that these things are a problem anyways. Of course, I don’t expect anybody to want to hear my life story, but my point in mentioning all that is because: trust me, I do sympathize with those that are truly disadvantaged, have a hard time finding/keeping work and so on.
This however is yet another prime example of what I meant by people instinctively attacking others with preconceived notions when exposed to individuals with different viewpoints/ideas/culture/etc. Human nature to an extent, but still. They immediately make snap judgements in such situations and especially in my case, are nine times out of ten way off base.
For one, the point of mentioning those hypocrisies was to stress the fact that in general, the media focuses so much more on exaggerating and augmenting things about conservatives, obviously an intentional attempt at portraying them in a negative light, all while ignoring all of the stupidity and hypocrisy of liberals, which really isn’t fair. I’m not saying that there aren’t some conservatives that are completely backward themselves, but the media has brainwashed youth culture into thinking they’re all like that. Yep, they’re all A.) “Racist, gun-toting rednecks”, or B.) “Rich, greedy, remorseless, power hungry assholes that think less affluent people are worth absolutely nothing and deserve nothing in life.” Ask your typical young trendy liberal what they think of conservatives, and their predictable response will only further prove this. But yes, for the most part the media is very biased toward liberal viewpoints, and anybody that isn’t unbiased and actually watches the news or almost any TV at all KNOWS this. Also, there’s a big difference between having more “traditional, old fashioned” values, and then just being completely backward. There’s also a big difference between being against illegal immigration and being “racist.” Furthermore, if the zenith of human evolution is fucking anything that walks, doing every drug known to man, and leeching off of those that are hard working all while constantly badmouthing them… I personally think I’d rather stay away from that “higher plane of human existence.”
Two, I think it’s quite obvious that you’re merely projecting your own deep seated anger issues onto me, which is honestly quite typical of many allegedly “open minded, peace loving” liberals and hippies in general when they’re confronted with different opinions as well as irrefutable fact. Though it’s a somewhat outdated book, “An Elementary Textbook of Psychoanalysis” By Charles Brenner, M.D. actually describes such people and primal defense mechanisms in rather vivid detail.
The older I get, the more I can’t stand most of them, their pretension, their general ignorance and misguidance that is ironically preached under the guise of “being more informed” and so on. The typical insistences that “legalizing pot and legalizing gay marriage are pretty much the most important issues ever, basically more important than real issues such as relations with other nations, the economy, and so on”… it all just makes me facepalm. And if you disagree with any of them by just seeing things for what they truly are, even when you provide concrete proof that in reality they have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about? You’re an “asshole.” It’s a generalization of course, but honestly most of the typical Liberal paradigms of thought and ideologies are not only grossly misinformed but also quite hypocritical in nature often as well. Sure, the same is also true of conservatives at some points, but the fact is that the predominantly liberal American media generally only likes to highlight the negative aspects of more conservative paradigms of thought, while attempting to ignore and/or simply rationalize the negative aspects of more liberal ideologies.
Now before anybody jumps to conclusions, reacts in a hostile manner and so on, I ask that you read everything I’ve posted(though I know most people won’t bother to read anything longer than a paragraph unless they’re absolutely required to) carefully consider it all and just try to look at things from an honest, unbiased point of view. I’m ultimately not at all ashamed to express thoughts and ideas that would make me “uncool” among the trendy younger crowds and/or that many would regard as “politically incorrect” either way. The fact is that I simply try to look at things from a sheerly objective point of view and see things for what they truly are. Now make no mistake, before anyone jumps to any conclusions about me or my thoughts or judges based on their predictable preconceived notions, I should mention that I have some very liberal views here and there, and I’d say I’m actually much more liberal than most liberals even at some points. My basic general philosophy on life is that we should all be free to pursue whatever lifestyle we choose and be free to be who we want to be so long as our actions have no ill effect on others.I mean if what we choose to do with our lives, and what we choose to do in our own personal lives doesn’t harm others, is there really any fair or logical reason for others to try and take those rights away from us? No, there is not. That’s simply the truth I’m convinced.
Anyways, these few following points are to an extent generalizations and of course don’t apply to everyone, but let’s be honest with ourselves here; a lot of it is just fact. There seem to be a lot of social misconceptions regarding conservatives, and in general lots of ignorance and hypocrisy from the liberal crowd. For example:
- Liberals generally love to talk out of their ass about Conservatives being “ignorant and uninformed”, yet Conservatives are actually on average a lot more educated and affluent than Liberals. Honestly, there’s a reason why “big bad whitey” still practically runs our nation and actually makes things happen in society in numerous fields.
- Liberals love to whine about prejudice, disadvantaged people, homelessness, and so on… yet at the end of the day, it’s actually Conservatives by far that donate a lot more to charity, college funds, and so on, while Liberals generally just love to sit around and talk. And when they do donate to a charity, you better believe that the whole world will have to know about it and know “how selfless and caring they are.”(Especially liberal celebrities that donate, though I know that celebrities aren’t really indicative of regular people, but still)
There are many more ways to show how many of these trendy young liberals are just full of horseshit at the end of the day.
Personally, regarding Gay marriage, I myself don’t know what to think. For years I supported it 100% but now I’m a bit unsure and I will tell you why in a minute. Before anybody makes any assumptions, I actually have no problem with gays(although I do have a problem with the more typical trendy gays that whine about crossdressers/drag queens/etc “giving them a bad name.” The downright hypocrisy and utter idiocy of these types is beyond the scope of this journal entry, but I felt it was worth mentioning) like I said earlier, my basic philosophy is that we should all be free to be who we want and live how we want so long as our choices don’t harm others. Gay marriage is a civil rights issue and my initial thoughts were “If they want to get married, let them get married. It’s not hurting anyone.”
However, and this is where I get a bit unsure, and it regards a somewhat separate, yet still highly related concern: I’m talking about the issue of Gay adoption.
You have to wonder about the effects on a child’s upbringing when raised by homosexual parents. Anybody that knows the first thing about developmental psychology knows that a stable family and home is quite essential in shaping an individual for better or for worse. A good mother figure and a good father figure is very, very important. On average, single mothers raise more aberrant individuals that will be more prone to criminal behavior and so on(no offense to single mothers, and before anybody throws a fit, these are merely averages and just the statistical facts, so please don’t get mad at me for quoting the facts) Now, I know that in many ways I myself would be considered a “fuck-up” by much of society, and I didn’t come from the best family myself. But regardless of ourselves and our personal feelings, we all just have to be honest with ourselves. Traditional pschoanalytic theory and modern psychodynamic theory place great importance on such variables regarding how a person is shaped and so on. And of course, there are always exceptions with these kinds of things.
Now, there of course some psychological and sociological studies done which insist that gay parenting has no effect on children. However, the vast majority of these studies are poorly researched and very biased, driven by a liberal agenda to try and create their desired outcome. Most more thorough studies done from unbiased sources actually state that gay parenting does often in fact impact a person’s development for worse. Source below:
www.unav.es/civil/nsd/nosindebate/mhparenting.doc
Of course, more research is needed to draw a firm conclusion I’d say as this is a relatively new area of research among social scientists. However, this is one thing that does make me a bit “iffy” about gay marriage. We already have enough criminals and scum in our society, which has been going down the shitter a bit more and more each day in the past 50 or so years. Aside from that one semi-related detail, I actually have no problem with gay marriage and support it 100%.
As for people using examples in nature to try and justify their views(“there are lots of animals that are sometimes homosexual!”) I personally don’t see the point or connection in the grand scheme of things. Many alpha-male animals also kill younger males in an effort to make sure that no other males grow up to be bigger and potentially take their status in the hierarchical “societies” of some animals, such as monkeys, lions, and so many others. Doesn’t really relate to a human standpoint and doesn’t make it right. Many animals eat their own shit as well. Hopefully you see my point. By the same token I also don’t agree with those that try to use the “it’s unnatural” reasoning as an argument against homosexuality. A bit off topic.
Regarding the legalization of marijuana, another very popular topic among Liberals, personally I do think they should legalize it. Now, before you start with “fuCk yEah brAh LEgaLizE thAt sHit”, I should also mention that I’ve read many studies from “The American Journal of Psychiatry/The American journal of Neurology” and various other highly reputable sources that actually say Marijuana can be quite harmful, especially after prolonged periods of use. Higher rates of depression, schizophrenia, and many other psychiatric/neurologic disorders and so on are often correlated with prolonged, regular marijuana use. Consequently, I’ve also read other studies from highly reputable sources that do in fact say the opposite; that marijuana actually has no harmful effects on the user. So I don’t know what to think honestly. However, I’ll say this much: I’ll trust the M.D. in the white coat over some typical young dumb college frat-douche party-brah any day of the week.
However, regardless of whether or not it really is harmful or not, I still believe in legalizing it. Why? Because it’s ultimately a personal choice. If marijuana made people grow moldy, deformed dicks coming out of their ears, I’d still support legalizing it because ultimately it is a personal choice. Just like with alcohol and tobacco, people should at least be educated about the potential dangers and be free to make their own choice, so long as it doesn’t affect others. In other words, feel free to get high/drunk/whatever all you want, but don’t even try and drive or something while doing so, for example, as this could endanger another person’s or persons’ life/lives. I’ve actually come across some dumbasses who insist “they’re able to drive just fine while drunk/high” and I’m guessing it’s only a matter of time before these delusional morons either kill themselves or someone else in an accident.
In his book from a few years ago, “The Liberal Mind: The Psychological causes of Political Madness”, Psychiatrist Dr. Lyle Rossiter M.D. goes very in depth regarding such paradigms of thought, the inconsistencies, hypocrisies, and so on. I copy/pasted a bit from a review, but:
“Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:
“The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind,” he says. “When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious.”
I’d advise anybody to read this book, and to closely examine their beliefs in general. Regarding beliefs, whether they be political, religious, or whatever else, I think that people should A.) Not be afraid to follow their own ideas over those of others and B.) Think very carefully about all of it, consider the pros, the cons, the facts, the myths, and so on. Don’t simply believe something because it’s what everyone else believes. Don’t simply regurgitate the same tired arguments as everyone else in your general ideology of thought before you actually examine that particular argument carefully and are completely honest with yourself.
On a less serious note, it’s really no wonder why so many pseudo-intellectuals/neckbeards/hambeasts are liberals.
And for the record, just to sum things up a bit: I wouldn’t say that I consider myself Liberal orConservative. I’m more just my own person that simply tries to see things for what they really are and from an objective, non-biased view. And I’m not necessarily saying for sure that I’m right. However I just look at the facts in most cases. Probably part of why I never really get along with most people, I’m “too liberal” for most conservatives, “too conservative” for most liberals, and “too weird/anti-social” for most people in general.
Nazrin: Personally, for the most part I like her older music and older look as well. Her look was simple, yet still very fashionable… she was super cute and it just fit her completely. Doesn’t need a ton of make up and stuff to look super cute unlike most. I’m also disappointed that her sound has seemingly become a bit more kind of like any standard popstar than the pop-rock/pop-punk type stuff that she originally did. I mean make no mistake I still like her and her music and always will but that’s just my opinion.

Archie McPhee has a long, colourful history of celebrating the humble and almost universally despised cockroach. So we were delighted when we stumbled across the top photo of a tiny shrine created beside the body of a departed roach.
It is just one of the Carmichael Collective’s awesome series of Bug Memorials, set up on the streets of Minneapolis to mark the passing of various insects where their tiny bodies were found, on the city’s sidewalks and windowsills.
One of the things we love most about street art is how it urges the viewer to stop and pay closer attention to one’s surroundings. These little memorials do just that while adding a cute and bittersweet significance to sights so common and unremarkable that they would mostly likely go completely unnoticed otherwise.

If you ask me “Technical Death Metal” is an oxymoron. I mean really, just because a “song” is a bunch of simplistic downtuned guitar riffs all with a bunch of different time signatures every 5 seconds, no discernible hooks, no melody and so on doesn’t make it “technical” at all in reality. Most of the lead guitar playing and “shredding” in general that many of these bands do is also ironically enough, a complete and utter joke. Generally the lead playing consists of no sense of melody, piss poor phrasing, lack of control of the instrument, weak vibrato, thin tone, and so on, and is the result of people attempting to try and play fast before they’ve even developed basic ability and knowledge of the instrument. So much for “being technical” eh? Also hate all this gay ass metalcore/hardcore type crap that’s popular these days, usually among a bunch of trendy hipsters, neckbeards, and emos. Sad how people just listen to what’s trendy and how they will all just mindlessly regurgitate the same ignorant, uninformed opinions of everyone else in their dumb little “scene” as if it’s a fact. Keep telling yourselves that anybody who actually writes decent music and makes it big is “talentless” or a “poser” though.
